Gas blast nearly destroys home

In Seremban,a family of three escaped death after a gas leak in the kitchen which resulted in a blast that nearly destroyed their two-storey house at Taman Mulia Pajam early this morning. When the house owner, a 52-year-old man woke up to go to the toilet he switched on the light which ignited the gas fumes trapped in the house. The man suffered burns and injuries to his hands due to the explosion and was sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for treatment, while his 50-year old wife and 12-year old daughter were unhurt as they were upstairs when the blast occured. Although there was no fire, the house was 70 per cent damaged. Apparently, the man's daughter had smelled the gas earlier but did not inform her father. Investigations done by firemen showed that the gas cylinder in the kitchen had leaked and the gas was trapped inside the house due to the ventilation of the house that was sealed to avoid foul smell from a landfill not far from the residential area.

One has to always be careful when modifying his or her house and make sure it is safe to do the modification. It is always advised that one ask a professional for opinions before a modification.
However since the accident had happened, I am still thankful that they are still alive and living after such a terrifying experience and also to wish the man a quick recovery from his injuries.
